Athena Technologies, Inc., through principle scientist Dr. Walter J. Sexton, has been active in both spill response and contingency planning since 1978. Dr. Sexton has worked on studies of oil spill impact, personnel training, and the development of strategies and contingency plans to mitigate these impacts for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). He has responded to several large oil spills providing rapid evaluation of environmental/physical problems and recommendations to the responsible parties coordinating the spill cleanup. He has worked with damage assessment teams establishing stations and data collection for long term monitoring of the impact of the oil spill.
